Fall is here, pumpkins on the porch, football on TV, and colorful leaves blanketing the yard. While autumn leaves are beautiful, they can quickly pile up and cause problems if not properly collected. That’s where Capital Waste Services comes in! As your local trusted residential waste and yard waste collection provider, we’re here to make fall cleanup easy.
🍁 Why Leaf Cleanup & Proper Disposal Matters
- When you partner with Capital Waste Services, you’re not just keeping your yard tidy, you’re also helping us keep neighborhoods safe and efficient. Proper leaf disposal and yard waste pickup helps:
- Keep neighborhoods looking clean and seasonal
- Prevent clogged storm drains and flooding
- Ensure our garbage trucks can collect your yard waste quickly and safely
- Avoid missed or delayed pickups due to improper preparation
How to Prepare Leaves for Pickup with Capital Waste Services
1. Use the Right Bags or Carts
Bag your leaves in biodegradable paper yard waste bags. Plastic bags are not accepted.
2. Keep Bags Light & Easy to Handle
Heavy, overfilled bags can break and cause collection delays. For smooth pickup, fill bags about three-quarters full.
3. Bundle Branches Separately
If your fall cleanup includes sticks and limbs, yard waste guidelines typically require branches to be under 4 feet long and less than 6 inches thick.
4. Set Bags & Carts at the Curb Correctly
Place your yard waste at the curb on your scheduled pickup day. Keep bags or carts clear of mailboxes, fences, and cars so our garbage trucks can access them safely.
5. Never Rake Leaves into the Street
Loose piles of leaves can’t be collected by our trucks and may cause flooding or hazards. Always bag or cart your leaves for pickup.
General Capital Waste Services Yard Waste Guidelines
